Refresh your knowledge and skills on how to provide First Aid to children and adults, including (Pediatric) Basic Life Support and the use of an AED.
During this refresher course, you practise all the skills that are needed to administer First Aid adequately to children and adults. In this course, you learn exactly what you should do for the most diverse injuries. You practise Basic Life Support and the use of an AED on various Basic Life Support manikins. You learn how you bring a person to safety, how to assess their condition and alert the emergency services.
Under the supervision of a certified Red Cross instructor, you learn how to administer First Aid to someone who is unresponsive or has chest pain, a stroke, is choking/suffocating, has a mild head injury, a cut or a graze, fainting, bleeding, an insect sting/bite, a burn/scald, a tick bite, bruising, contact with jellyfish, sprain, irritation by oak processionary caterpillar, a dislocation, shortness of breath, a bone fracture, a panic attack (hyperventilation), poisoning, hypothermia, a nosebleed, hyperthermia, an object in ear or nose, diabetes, a tooth through the lip, epilepsy, a knocked-out tooth, febrile seizures, neck or spinal injuries, amputation or an eye injury. You learn what to do specifically for children in case of an allergic reaction or drowning.
Once you have completed the refresher course successfully, you receive a Wordlwide recognised Red Cross First Aid certificate. The certificate is valid for two years. After completion of the entire classroom course, for reference, you receive the Course Book First Aid. If you choose the course version with an online part, after completion of that course, you have one year's access to the online module.
Conditions
You can participate in the refresher course if you have an Advanced First Aid for Adults and Children certificate that is still valid on the day of the course.
